Julian Tello Violist
Originally from San Antonio, TX, Julian Tello Jr. began playing the viola at age 10. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Viola Performance from The Curtis Institute of Music in 2018, where he studied with Hsin-Yun Huang and Roberto Diaz. Prior to this, Julian studied with Misha Galaganov at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, TX. A freelance musician, Julian regularly plays with the Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic, Allentown Philharmonic, Binghamton Philharmonic, Tri-City Opera, the Artosphere Festival Orchestra, and the Garden State Philharmonic. His previous associations include section viola with Camden-based group Symphony in C, section viola with the Las Colinas Philharmonic, principal viola with the Abilene Philharmonic, and principal viola with the Odysseus Chamber orchestra. He has presented chamber recitals at the Mallery Series Rutgers University Camden, at the Sibelius Center in Helsinki with Curtis on Tour, throughout north Texas as part of the Odysseus Chamber Players, in Fayetteville, AR as part of the Artosphere Festival, in the Chateau de Fontainebleau in France as part of the New American School for Music and Architecture, in Graz, Austria as part of the AIMS Festival, and most recently aboard the Holland America cruise ship, the ms Westerdam, as violist for the Lincoln Center Stage Quintet. When not playing the viola or violin, Julian enjoys hiking, traveling, and attending live music performances.
